‘Visit to work visas restricted to govt contracts’

‘Use laptops only for educational purposes’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: The use of laptops in schools should be for educational purposes only, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources as saying.

The same sources added that the Ministry of Education recommends the use of laptops by teachers for educational purposes that will benefit their students, and warns of severe consequences if any teacher is confirmed using his or her laptop to watch porn or play games.

As per bylaw the ministry has yet to adopt, all ministry employees must observe specific conditions while using the laptops supplied by schools, as well as any other laptops, once the employees remain at the school premises.

Among those conditions are prohibition of porn and distribution of porn contents, as well as logging to any social network.

The new regulation will be activated in the next academic year if approved by the concerned authority, sources indicated.

In another report, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Mohammed Al-Kandari has affirmed that the transfer of commercial visit visas to work visas is restricted to government contracts, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Al-Kandari disclosed this during the inauguration of the conference ‘Woman and Media’. He was quoted as saying any proposal at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor regarding amendments and conditions of transfer will not be available before the formation of the next government.

He added a memo in this regard has already been prepared by the ministry and it will be submitted to the Cabinet after the formation of the new government.

He asserted the proposal for transfer of residence is restricted to government contracts provided the applicant is university graduate.

Al-Kandari pointed out the labor market doesn’t need to increase the expatriate workers because there is a commitment to increase the Kuwaiti workforce from 31 percent to 34 percent by 2014.
